Eclectic Gifts {and how to love your family}

Posted on March 15, 2012 by Gina C.

Asheville is a totally artsy place, apparently an “upcoming hipster community”… whatever that means. Folks ’round here carry their own grocery bags & eat whole foods & have vegetable gardens in their backyards & don’t shave their legs & play bluegrass & hike. Around here things are hand-crafted and home-grown. It’s a culture that permeates not only Asheville, but the surrounding little towns and villages, too.

So a few years ago, when the then CampClem four headed over to Flat Rock to stroll the main street of funky finds and handmade goodness…

…and while we appreciated the shops and the artisans and the food…

…I realized the best gifts were the ones I’d brought with me. My own eclectic gifts.

{I didn’t mean that sign to be a banner over my guys, but it’s pretty appropriate, don’t you think?}

After all, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are an inheritance from Him” (Psalm 127:3). And “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11).

So, how might we treat our husbands and children differently if we walked in the truth that they are gifts from a good God?

Pull up a rocking chair and grab a cup of tea!}
