The best Vermont Ski Vacations can be found right here in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Whether you prefer downhill / alpine skiing or cross-country skiing, our terrain, annual snowfall, and warm hospitality will make for a fabulous ski vacation for you or the whole family.
For downhill skiing, telemark and snowboarding look to Vermont's Northeast Kingdom for fun on the slopes. Our region offers two major ski mountains, Jay Peak and Burke Mountain, as well as many smaller "ski hills" which are perfect for casual skiing and family ski vacations. Jay Peak receives the greatest annual snowfall in the state and keeps it the longest. Family-friendly Burke Mountain offers a variety of terrain for all abilities, glade runs, sweet vertical, bumps and jumps.
Cross-country skiing is affordable -- no more than $14 for an adult day pass, half that for kids. And, there's exceptional X-C skiing in the Kingdom. Blessed with abundant snowfall, Craftsbury Outdoor Center is known as Vermont's granddaddy of Nordic skiing. In the town of Montgomery, Hazen's Notch grooms trails at the top of the world and offers full moon snowshoe tours. Burke X-C grooms 75 kilometers and even allows dogs! Kingdom Trails grooms 25 km of ridgeline with views to die for. Highland Lodge is an historic inn offering skiers old world charm and inn-to-inn ski shuttles. In East Charleston, Northwoods Stewardship Center has 30 kilometers of signed skiing trails that wind their way through nearly 3,000 acres of forested and open landscapes. Memphremagog Ski Touring Foundation maintains and grooms cross-country ski trails in Derby and on Mt. Hor in the Willoughby State Forest. MSTF trails vary from railroad flat to precipitous, with skate and classic machine grooming on the core network.
