How did S'cool Moves come to be?
Debra, a reading specialist, and Margot, an occupational therapist, collaborated in Debra's Title I reading room with the objective of accelerating learning for her students while also providing desperately needed therapy services that were unavailable because her students did not qualify for IEPs. These students were the "fall between the cracks" children who hung out academically in the bottom quarter year after year, making very little progress toward their goals. After six years of data, the students made great improvement. Thirteen years later, S'cool Moves is used nationally and internationally bringing together therapists and teachers through our products, workshops, and district trainer program.
S'cool Moves is like the making of an educational chocolate peanut butter cup: bringing together the best in neuroscience and occupational therapy to produce a delicious addition to techniques you may already use in your classroom or clinic. Thanks for visiting us!

Collaboration Activities
|
Teachers and therapists sometimes speak different languages due to the gap between educational models and therapy models for service delivery. Teachers have little time to do a separate set of activities for just those students on IEPs. The good news is that we've figured out some helpful activities that can be used with an entire class. The result is a collaborative classroom that incorporates success into every day for all students. |

Our Power Up! and Advanced Focus Moves activities are engaging for older students and adults. These activities focus on auditory-visual motor integration, vision skills, fine motor, and rhythm (the ultimate mind-body integration skill). All materials can be modified for a wide variety of developmental needs. Older students with developmental needs should complete our Focus Moves K-5 activities first. |
