Using Web Callback

One of the new and exciting features of VoXaLot is the Web activated telephony service "Web Callback". Using Web Callback you can make a call from any phone, anywhere, anytime using VoIP rates - even if you don't have an ATA or VoIP phone.

So, how does it work? You need to have signed up with a VoIP provider that gives you call rates that you are happy with. You don't have to configure any equipment on your side - you just need to have an account with a third-party VoIP provider. All you need is a computer that is connected to the internet to initiate the call.

In addition to being able to call VoIP numbers without having any VoIP equipment, you can also take advantage of the cheap PSTN rates that many providers offer. To do this, you need to have accounts with two different providers.

As food for thought, consider the case where you sign up with a local provider in your country (eg. Australia) that provides untimed local calls for 10c. You also sign up with a provider in another country (eg. USA) that provides untimed local calls for 8c. By combining these two providers using VoXaLot Web Callback, you can essentially get untimed international calls from Australia to USA for only 18c.

As an added bonus VoXaLot will check for a ENUM route, and if it finds a free call leg, that call leg will be free!

PSTN to VoIP

  1. First of all you need to register your VSP details as a provider in VoXaLot. You can do this by clicking on the Providers link under the Members menu. Once you have added a provider, click on the Web Callback link.

  2. You will see a screen that looks like:

    spacer

  3. In the top field, type in your PSTN phone number (land line/mobile).

  4. Then in the second box, type in a SIP-Code encoded number. In the example above, the FWD Echo Test has been entered.

  5. You have the option to set a call delay (3 seconds in this example).

  6. Click on the Call button, and VoXaLot will initiate the call. Your provider will charge you as if you had initiated the call from a VoIP-enabled ATA or phone - the key difference is absolutely no hardware setup/configuration is required.

Note: Check your VoIP provider's terms and conditions before adding them to this service.

PSTN to PSTN

  1. Completing a PSTN to PSTN call is the same as PSTN to VoIP, however you need 2 separate VoIP providers to make a PSTN to PSTN call.

Go to the Web Callback screen :

  2. In the top field, type in your PSTN phone number (land line/mobile), then select the VoIP provider to be used for this leg of the call.

  3. In the bottom field, type in the other PSTN number you want to dial, and select the VoIP provider for this leg.

  4. Enter the delay before the call is connected in seconds, then press Call.

At the bottom of the Web Callback screen is the Web Callback Phone Book.

Let's say you are staying with friends in Ireland for a few weeks and want to call home regularly. You would create and entry in the phone book that connects your current phone number to your home phone number
