Commissioner King Discusses the Changing Role of the Superintendent

On March 5, 2012, Commissioner King spoke at the mid-winter conference of the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS). The Commissioner’s speech focused on the changing role of the superintendent and developing a world class system in a changing economic reality.

Highlights include: adapting to global competition; the superintendent’s role in implementing the Common Core, Data Driven Instruction, and Teacher / Leader Effectiveness; timelines for delivery of curriculum, assessment, and professional development resources; and new information about APPR.
