The musical, Gypsy, is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous burlesque artist. The story follows the dreams and efforts of her stage mother, Rose, who is raising her two daughters to be Vaudeville performers. The musical contains many songs that became standards, including “Small World,” “Everything’s Coming up Roses”, “You’ll Never Get Away from Me,” and “Let Me Entertain You.”

UPCOMING PROJECTS

The Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild is working on a new roof and an upgraded/expanded sound system. The current roof is the original roof, built in 1964. Kudos to the installer for designing a roof that lasted almost half a century. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and we are getting water inside the building. We have five bids for a new flat roof. The cost is anywhere from $30,000-$45,000.

New FCC rules (related to the world going digital - like your television) has forced us to get new microphones. We have also outgrown our decade old sound system and need to upgrade. The cost is about $16,000. If you’d like to contribute to either project, please let us know. Thank you.
