Welcome to Lough Derg

spacer Part of our Celtic heritage and renowned throughout Europe since the Middle Ages, Lough Derg is a unique place of peace. In today's modern world - where everything is fast and instant - Lough Derg still manages to maintain a pace where people have to move more slowly, where the mind can be stilled. This small island offers no distractions, no artificialities, but instead a warm welcome, for there are no strangers here.

If you are seeking an opportunity for calm, for renewal or growth, then this ancient Sanctuary of St. Patrick might well be the place. We invite you to become part of what has been an Irish tradition since the sixth century.

The Lough Derg Pilgrimage Season extends between April and September each year with a varied programme of Day Retreats, workshops, faith-based seminars, family events and the traditional Three-Day Pilgrimage, reputed to be the most challenging in the Christian World.

Our biggest and brightest Season Guide yet has just landed and is packed with exciting news and information that will help you plan your 2012 Pilgrimage or Retreat. Find out more now

Keep up with Deborah as she continues her training programme for the 2012 London Marathon. Deborah will be posting a regular blog and would appreciated any words of encouragement and support that you can offer. Find out how Deborah's training is coming along now.

Why not show your support for Deborah's efforts and help Lough Derg at the same time - please donate what you can, from €1/£1 per mile up to €5/£5 per mile, all donations will be very welcome. We are currently in the process of restructuring our online donation form but until then please mark donations for the attention of Deborah and post to St Patrick's Purgatory, Lough Derg, Pettigo, Co. Donegal or if from Northern Ireland/UK send them to Friends of Lough Derg Office, No 6 High Street, Tullyhommon, Kesh, Co. Fermanagh BT93 8BD
