Border Run organizers is raising money for THREE charities.  The money raised will be split equally between the three charities. The three charities are:

1) C2S - City2Sea which helps preserve the future of our oceans that we all sail on (CLICK ON VIDEO ABOVE).

2) C2S new sailing program that will promote the sport of sailing to a local new generation of sailors.

3) LLS (Leukemia Lymphoma Society) that help fight blood cancers including skin cancer.

With the goal of raising OVER $50,000, Border Run sailors can earn prizes to offset their racing expenses by helping to raise money for these worthy charities.  The money raised will be split equally between the three charities.

Last year 42 Border Run Teams raised $50,800 for LLS...this year we hope sailors will take the challenge to break that record!!!

The 2012 Border Run Team consisting of XS Racing of Huntington Beach, South Shore Yacht Club of Newport Beach (the Organizing Authority), Dana Point Yacht Club of Dana Point are all committed to make The Border Run the most important and exciting event any sailor could ever sail.

Just TWO easy steps to Earn Free Stuff and Help these Three Charities:

1) Enter Early (First entries get free stuff and have a chance to win a new SUP). Your entry will be posted on our Border Run / Charity Team webpage listed by the name of your boat.

2) Organize your crew as a Border Run / Charity Team. You and your crew send out one email a month (see sample email below) to all your friends and family, asking to sponsor you in the 2011 Border Run with donations of $20 or more. Then follow your efforts on our Border Run / Charity Team webpage.

It's that simple!  You will be surprised by the response. There is strength in numbers, With an anticipated fleet of over 200 boats we are 1000 sailors strong. With each sailor raising just $60 we can reach our goal to easily exceed $50,000 dollars. Last year 42 teams raised $50,000, so we know it can be done. Although not mandatory to race, we hope every sailor will take the small amount of effort to help this worthy cause.

In an amazing showing, the crew of Misfit has set the bar for anyone who is entering XS Racing's Border Run in the fund raiser category. The team raised over $11,000 in 2011, earning a free entry, $250 dollars of food and drink for both parties and $400 worth of Border Run clothing in the process and $1000 towards a new sail by Quantum. Skipper George Moll motivated his crew and earned all kinds of goodies for his efforts while helping to save a life!
