The Woman in Black… is back!

Good day, boys and ghouls! We are happy to bring you the latest episode of The Horror Movie Show, hosted as per usual by those sons of fun Jerry & Mark. This week the guys talk about the latest couple of episodes of The Walking Dead, the new Daniel Radcliffe spookfest The Woman in Black, the fine and spooky The Awakening and the freaky science fiction flick, Perfect Sense, starring Ewan McGregor.

Excepting the ultra-American adventures of our quickly diminishing cast on AMC‘s excellent The Walking Dead, the three feature films featured this episode are all British. But don’t let that put you off. The English pretty much invented the whole idea of ghosts. Or is that fairies? All I know is that Popeye says, “There ain’t so such things as ghosks,” and that’s good enough for me. I mean, if I didn’t listen to Popeye’s sage advice, I’d be up all night checking behind the kitty litter for poltergeists and the like.

It’s been a long week. I just found out that Mark & Jerry are thinking of having me replaced by a small plastic box that dispenses postage stamps. And nobody here at our headquarters in the mighty Splutt Building has sent a letter in years. I’m so depressed. But never mind my problems, let’s listen to the new podcast.

In Alabama, the Tuscaloosa

And a happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all the Irish, the Catholics and the Irish Catholics out there!

That amazing man of mystery & intrigue, the remarkably perceptive Mr. Mark Elf has allowed his seething brain to overheat & spill an even dozen Prognostications, each worthy of that Nostradamus dude. Of course, Mr. Elf has a lot more going on these days than old Nostro; for one, Mr. Elf is able to breathe and move around. Nostradamus, not so much.

We caught up with The Great Man as he was using a gigantic linen handkerchief to wipe the snotty blowhole of a rare Antarctic Narwhal at the local aquarium. Mr. Elf is enjoying his latest employment, but says he’s growing tired of an all-chum diet and looks forward to future employment where he won’t necessarily be daily covered with cetacean sputum, the bones of half-rotted fish caught betwixt molar & premolar.

Good luck with that, Mr. Elf. Now… on with the Horoscopocological Utterances and Mantological Harbingers!

Is that your blowhole or are you just smiling?

HMPOD.com Podcast 58 — Something completely different

Director Terry Gilliam fully animated

From his first big break working in New York for his Mad Magazine hero Harvey Kurtzman to a chance meeting with a young John Cleese, Minnesota’s Terry Gilliam has gone from being a struggling cartoonist and self-taught cut-out animator, to become one of our most daring — and daringly weird — movie directors. The various Monty Python flicks, Brazil, 12 Monkeys, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, The Fisher King, Tideland — all have an aspect of the nightmarish and fantastic. Gilliam deserves a spot in modern horror movie history.

Admitted fans Mark & Jerry spend this episode of The Horror Movie Show examining in detail the filmic career of the worst actor in the famed Python troupe, as well as arguably its most successful alumnus.

This way to the gibbet, people!

Yes, breaking the GOP candidates on the wheel and leaving their stinking corpses to putrefy in the murky sunshine of late winter would be too good for the likes of Newt “Fathead” Gingrich or “Dick” Santorum. I really don’t know what’s up with that so-called Libertarian, the old man who won’t tell us his surname. As for front-runner Mitt “Say What?” Romney, that guy is one handsome mother! My goodness, with a jaw like that he should have gone into the pictures, not politics. However, most alarming is that inside his big, square head is an empty space equivalent to that usually taken up by a human brain. How does he respirate and say so many stupid things if he hasn’t got a brain? Easy. He’s got millions of dollars in the bank and the backing of Big Business. Now, on with the Horoscopocological Utterances!

If you pick at it, it will never heal

HMPOD.com Podcast 57 — Defanged Immortals

Teething pains & snappy comebacks

Good day, everyone in the entire world — and beyond! This is the newest episode of The Horror Movie Show, hosted by those grinning skulls of fun Jerry & Mark. This show features several newish movies and one true chestnut.

First up is Teeth, the likably twisted story of a young lady who can smile with more than the mouth in her face, if you take my drift. She can definitely bite the hand that, uh, feeds her. Also discussed is Perfect Life, about a half-dozen murderous bank robbers who encounter something rather more dangerous in the woods. For big box-office appeal, we feature Immortals, with Mickey Rourke gloriously and greedily chewing, devouring and swallowing entire the scenery around himself. Finally, our feckless hosts take a loving look at David Fincher‘s genre-changing Se7en, starring Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, the limp-as-a-dishrag Gwyneth Paltrow and the anonymous Kevin Spacey. Hope you enjoy!
