Community Impact Newspaper is Texas' fastest-growing news organization and the most widely distributed news source for relevant and useful information at the community level. Since its launch in 2005, Community Impact Newspaper has restructured an antiquated model—the community newspaper—and turned it into an essential tool by providing readers with useful, informative news.

In September 2005, owners John and Jennifer Garrett launched the first edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Pflugerville and Round Rock. At that time, there were three full-time employees— now there are more than 70—and the company operated out of the game room of the Garretts' house.

The Garretts' vision to build a company that would provide local news didn't stop in Pflugerville and Round Rock. Since that initial paper, the company has launched eight papers in Central Texas.

The company expanded into the Houston area with the launch of the Northwest Houston edition in September 2009, delivering local news to the Cypress-Fairbanks area. Another edition in Tomball and Magnolia began a year later, and in September 2011, The Woodlands newspaper launched.

Another company goal was achieved in March 2011 with expansion to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, delivering news to Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake.

With 12 hyper-local newspapers in Texas, our total mailed circulation is now more than 750,000. This continued growth is backed up by the Garretts' commitment to building a company culture that identifies with integrity and passion and their dedication to cultivating strong employee relationships.
