Japanese Incense

Japanese incense is known for its purity and subtle blending. In Japan, blending incense is considered an art form, and appreciating incense is considered a form of meditation known as listening to incense. A 9" stick will burn for about 40-45 minutes, a 5" stick will burn about half an hour.

Tibetan Incense

Tibetans have been making and offering this incense to shrines and altars for centuries. More pungent and earthy than Japanese varieties. Imported from the Tibetan refugee communities in India and Nepal. We have repeated the makers' colorful claims on the boxes for your consideration. The long sticks (usually about 13") will burn for over 45 minutes.

The resurgent popularity of Buddhism in China has also rekindled a demand for fine incense.

Nag Champa

Nag Champa is said to be the world's most popular incense.  We carry both the familiar Satya Sai Baba in the blue box and the red box Shamthimalai Nag Champa.

Smokeless Incense

High-quality, less-smoke Japanese incense from Shoyeido and Nippon Kodo.  Higher charcoal content means the incense burns red hot, yielding minimal smoke.
