Copeland Apprenticeship Initiative
Copeland Borough Council aims to create 45 Apprentice opportunities at Level 2 / 3 over the next 3 years. The Programme is open to Copeland residents aged 16 and over and the first vacancies will commence in May 2011. Apprenticeships will be for a maximum of 18 months and Copeland Borough Council will make a contribution of 60% to the apprentice salary for the term of the apprenticeship. Funding to support this Programme has been awarded come from the Copeland Community Fund and the Copeland Working Neighbourhood Fund.

What has the scheme achieved so far??
We are pleased to announce that the scheme has been a phenomenal success in rounds 1 and 2. To date we have supported over 20 employers to recruit apprentices.
Apprentices are accessing frameworks from the following sectors:
- Business admin
- Hairdressing
- Motor vehicle
- Adult care
- Childcare
- Catering
- Electrical
- Amenity Horticulture
- Customer service
- Brickwork
