CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
FOR ANNUAL
HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARDS
JCHS seeks county-wide project
nominations for annual Historic Preservation Awards. These awards
honor the efforts of individuals and organizations to preserve and
restore original structures and traditions that form the historic
fabric of Jefferson County.
The award categories include the Mary P. Johnson Award for building
restoration projects that meet the Secretary of Interior's high
standards, as well as Certificates of Appreciation for sympathetic preservation,
stewardship and
restoration projects.
Projects of any size may be worthy of an award and anyone may submit
a nomination for consideration. All nominations will be reviewed by
the JCHS Historic Preservation Awards Committee.
Nomination forms can be found by
CLICKING HERE
(PDF) or may be picked up at the JCHS headquarters
in historic City Hall, 540 Water Street, Port Townsend. The deadline
for submissions is March 16.
Port Townsend's Ghost Murals
Once you start looking for
them, Port Townsend's ghost murals are all around town, gracefully
fading away. They add ambiance and have quite a bit to tell us about
our town's past. The JCHS Ghost Mural Survey combines historic
photographs, building and business histories and contemporary
photographs. View the survey by CLICKING
HERE (Large PDF, be patient.)
