Guerrilla Gastronomy
11am–2pm, 21 – 30 October 2011
Eastside Cafe, 99 Coventry Street, Birmingham, B5 5NY
As part of The Event 2011, Companis will be collaborating with Eastside Café on Coventry Street everyday throughout the festival.
Companis is an artist duo of Sian Tonkin and Kaye Winwood that produce participatory artworks and experiences that often use food or drink. Guerrilla Gastronomy is a project that provides Eastside Café with a daily food parcel and a recipe, surreptitiously infiltrating the regular offerings of the cafe. Will today’s option be something subversive or delightful? Suck it and see!
Companis, meaning to ‘break bread with someone’, is a nomadic practice working between the interstices of artistic and curatorial practice exploring the notion of exchange and participation within contemporary art, often through humorous and subversive tactics. Companis produces bespoke and memorable dining experiences, immersing the diner in a fusion of performance, food and spectacle. Follow Companis on Twitter, Facebook and via www.companis.co.uk
