We are please to announce that Emily Lohmeyer, a student at the University of San Diego, is the inaugural recipient of the "Stirring the Fire" Fellowship, a $3,000 grant made to the University of San Diego by social documentary photographer Phil Borges and Stirring the Fire. Learn more about Emily’s fellowship on our blog, and stay updated with Emily's reports from the field in Nakuru, Kenya where she is currently volunteering with Sure 24, a local orphanage for children.

STF Documenting Foundation for Women

Phil traveled to Liberia to document the work of Foundation for Women (FFW), an organization that strives to continually support and encourage impoverished women, both globally and locally, by funding and creating microcredit programs. A longtime supporter of Phil and his work, Kevin Castner accompanied him and reported back to us from the field.  Follow their trip to see how microcredit empowers not only women, but entire communities!
