  • Guangzhou
  • Guangzhou is one of the largest cities in China with 10 million people. Location is 120 km northwest of Hong Kong. It's Canton Fair is wellknown worldwide and held every year in April and October.

  • Guangzhou airport
  • Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is 28 km north of Guangzhou. It is a large airport with international flights to Asia and Europe. The Airport Express Bus is the major transportation way to/from the airport. Taxi fare from the airport to Guangzhou-East Station is about 150 Yuan. To Central Station a taxi would be 100 Yuan. A part of the new airport line of the Guangzhou metro is scheduled to be completed in 2012. Official website of the airport is www.baiyunairport.com (Chinese/English).

  • Guangzhou train
  • There are 2 main train stations: Guangzhou Railway Station in the old center and Guangzhou-East Station. Guang East Station is the terminus for trains from/to Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Many trains are running daily to Shenzhen and Dongguan.
    About 12 through trains are going every day to Hung Hom Station in Hong Kong. Traveltime to Hong Kong is less than 2 hours. Tickets for the intercity train to/from Hongkong can be booked online (www.mtr.com.hk).

    - Guangzhou - Shenzhen: daily trains; journey takes 1h.06min - 2h.27min (139km)

  • SkyPier at Hong Kong International Airport provides ferry services to Guangzhou for transit passengers. There are also ferry services between China Hong Kong City Terminal and the ferry terminals in Guangzhou (Lian Hua Shan, Panyu and Nan Sha)

  • bus to/from Hong Kong
  • Express coach services between Hong Kong International Airport and Guangzhou City. Check the website of the Hong Kong airport for Transport Connections; the latest bus time schedules between Hong Kong, Guangzhou and many other cities in Guangdong Province.

  • Guangzhou hotels
  • The 5star White Swan Hotel is probably the most famous hotel in Guangzhou. It is located on historical Shamian island overlooking the Pearl River. The Shangri-La Hotel is less than 1km from the Pazhou complex. Pullman Baiyun Airport is located within the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. In the Tianhe District (business district) are the Westin, Grand Palace Hotel and Star Hotel within 1km from the Guangzhou East Railway Station.

  • Guangzhou Trade Fair
  • Chinese Export Commodities Fair, called the Canton Fair, is held twice a year in Spring and Autumn and is China's largest trade fair. Trade days are Apr.15-30 and Oct.15-30.

    There are two large exhibition complexes in Guangzhou: the Pazhou Complex and the Liuhua Complex. The Pazhou is the largest in Asia with ground area of 400.000m. Official website of the Pazhou Complex is www.21cantonfair.com
    The Liuhua Complex (170,000m) is in the center of the city near Guangzhou Railway Station.

    Besides the famous Canton Fair, many other large-scale exhibitions are held in both complexes. Pay attention that hotel rates can increase during the fairs up to 3 times of the usual price.
