TaskBar
- New 2.1 version with Hot-Keys (CTRL + ALT + arrow) to move the current window left or right
- 2.0 version, with triple monitor support
What it does:
- It adds second taskbar to the extended desktop on Monitor 2 (either right or left)
- It can add third taskbar to the second Extended monitor if you have 3 monitors setup.
- It shows only applications from that Monitor
- It hides the applications on Monitor 2 from normal Windows Taskbar
- Adds a Move to Monitor button to all windows applications.
- Add Text Clipboard Extender (new 1.1.)
- Very carefully written, I don't want to crash my own desktop!
Main Monitor TaskBar
Monitor 2 Task Bar
See, only applicataions from the particular monitor appear on the taskbar of that monitor!
Move To Monitor Button
One remarkable feature is the Monitor Button. It adds this button to every window and by clicking on it it will move the window to the other monitor. The arrow even change direction to point to which monitor it will move...
New in 2.1: You can now use Hot-Keys CTRL+SHIFT+arrow to move the current window left or right!
Options
If you right click on an empty space on the new taskbar you can select Properties from the menu.
Here you can set stuff like Auto Hide or to use the Caption button feature (the Move to monitor added button)
New in 2.0
- support for both monitors on left or right
- support for 3 monitors (adds taskbar to both side monitors
- added cool simple text Clipboard extender.
Clipboard Extender
A simple but cool Text clipboard extender is added to the toolbar. It can be also rolled in or totally disabled.
This little box will capture all text Copy to clipboard operation and store. It will show you your last 100 text copy operation, you can select any text back.
Other hidden functionality of Clipboard extender:
F3 - Search. Type any text and press F3, it will quickly search for the presence of this text in all stored copy operations and select matches.
F5 - type any text and it will try to execute it. Type for example calc and press F5
Return - type any text and press return, it will be added to the clipboard list (and also copied to clipboard)
DEL - unroll the combo box so you see multiple items, Move cursor over item so it is selected (but don't click) and press DEL to remove it from list.
Limitations
Please note, this is a free software I wrote for my own purpose. Here are some limitations:
- Works only on XP and 2000
- The 3 monitor setup expect to have Primary monitor in the middle.
How to Install it
Run installation. It will add itself to the Startup menu.
What Windows versions it supports
First let me tell you If you don't have real Multi Monitor video card then this application will do nothing for you.
Even if you have faked multimonitor support like ATI did on Windows 2000 (It basically created double width but only one monitor) it won't help you.
I created it and I am using it on Windows 2000 and XP
Note: It doesn't work on Win95/98/ME, but then I wouldn't think of using multiple monitors on these OS anyway. It is enough to continuously loose resource memory on one monitor... |
If you have dual monitor and you can test it - let me know...
Limitiations: With two monitors the secondary must be on right. The monitors must have the same resolution. With three monitors the secondary must be left and right with the primary in the middle. If time permits I may make it universal, but I have too many other projects.
How I got it done?
I must say it wasn't easy to do. Quite a project! The basic idea was simple, but then removing the buttons from the window taskbar and synchronizing two taskbars was some unexpected work. Then a systemwide shell hooks were created to inform taskbar of changes and to add the button to caption bars. Simple? Well I had to solve hundreds of small things and optimalize this and that, but now it is rock solid and takes very little CPU. And in my opinion it is the best free app of its kind.
And I learned few new things... which was also a goal on its own.
This appears to be my own desk. Yes, here the magic is born. Two 17" TFT Samsung monitors makes a huge difference, not to mention that I lattely added one 21" widescreen Gateway in the middle for 3 monitor setup.
