RunRio Trilogy is a very special set of three race events scheduled within a year. The highlight is the 3rd race which features the 32km category – almost a unique distance and is not typically included in usual race events.
The 32k distance is dubbed as the Afroman distance and is specially chosen as most marathoners encounter the famous “the wall” at that precise point. Running or even conquering the Afroman distance is a very ideal training for first time marathoners.
Runners who are able to complete all the longest distances in all of the 3 races are all honored at the RunRio Trilogy Awards Night. This is another unique incentive for runners to participate in all the 3 race events.
The very first RunRio Trilogy was held in 2009 – 2010 and with its Leg 1 kicked off by Century Tuna Surperbods Run, Leg 2 was the Nature Valley Run and concluded with Leg 3 Unilab Run United 2.
For 2011, the 2nd RunRio Trilogy started off with Unilab Run United held last March 6 and Leg 2 & 3 will be on August 21 and November 12-13 respectively.
These are definitely race events not to be missed and should inspire more runners to sign up for the longest distances in each event so that they will automatically be invited and honored at the 2nd RunRio Trilogy Awards Night.
