The Evens, "Get Evens" and the Make-UP, "In film/On Video" DVD are both now available in record stores and on the Dischord website. These two are the latest in a string of releases Dischord has presented this fall. In case you blinked sometime in the last 3 months, we released new records from Channels, Soccer Team, The Aquarium, Joe Lally and French Toast.

Dischord Records, in conjunction with Inner Ear Studios and Ruffian Records / Swim-Two-Birds Studio is sponsoring a program for young DC bands called The DC Free Recording Project. Together we are offering free, short (five hour) recording sessions at Inner Ear Studio to young, DC area bands/projects that have not yet had experience in a professional recording studio. The sessions will be engineered by Hugh McElroy from Swim-Two-Birds Studio. To participate Bands must be from the Washington, DC area and play original music. Go to www.dcfrp.com for more details.

We have new (lower) prices for Dischord DVDs! These DVDs are cheaper to manufacture these days so we've lowered the price from $18.00 to $16.00 post paid. The Fugazi, "Instrument" DVD also has nice new packaging to go along with it's new lower price.

We are working on a new Dischord website which we hope to launch in the next weeks. The new site won't feature flying lizards or an onslaught of obnoxious multi-media madness but it will feature streaming mp3s, free downloads from our Dischord archives, and improved shopping options, not just for Dischord stuff but for our DC partner labels and the many DC area artists and labels that we carry. This new site will remain a work in progress with new features and new content added over several months. Stay tuned.

We would also like to announce some changes here at Dischord Records. Michael Fussell, our longtime production manager, is headed back to his home principality of Wales at the end of November and Ryan Nelson, who many of you know from our mail-order department, is leaving at the end of the year to go back to school. Michael will continue working with Dischord as a freelance consultant but will be missed around the office. Basla Andolsun has been assisting Ryan with web-orders and will take over after Ryan departs. Andy Gale, from the band Haram, has also been brought aboard as we reshuffle the deck and look to the future.

Soccer Team, (featuring Dischord mail-order king , Ryan Nelson and ex-Dischord Direct Queen, Melissa Quinley) recently returned from several shows in the south with Antelope and have new songs ripe for recording in the next month or so.

Antelope have just wrapped up mixing a set of new songs with Ian MacKaye at Inner Ear Studios. They have released an EP and a single and this new recording will represent their first full-length release. We hope to have this record out in February and Antelope will be touring shortly thereafter.

French Toast recently played at CMJ with The Aquarium and Beauty Pill and have been playing shows with These Arms Are Snakes. They will soon be headed to to the West Coast where they will plays shows on their own and hook up again with TAAS. For more info check out out the tour page.

Joe Lally recently returned from dates with the Melvins (accompanied by members of the Melvins) and is now playing dates in Brazil. Check out the dates on our tour page or for more information go to: www.joelally.com

The Evens recently returned from shows in the mid-west and are now booking shows for the northeastern States in early December, dates will be announced on the tour page soon. Ian will also be hosting a Q & A at Loyola University in New Orleans on November 14. Check the tour page for dates and information.

Beauty Pill recently returned from some southern dates with Rahim. The don't have any more tour dates planned at the moment but recorded their CMJ set at the Knitting factory for broadcast on XM radio.

Ian Svenonius (Weird War, Make Up, The Nation Of Ulysses, etc.) has compiled a book of his popular essays for release. Called The Psychic Soviet , after the central framing essay, it consists of both new articles and ones published previously in places like Index, BBGun, Dot Dot Dot, Sound Collector, Plan B and Weird War World, among others. The book is 280pp, 3.5x5. The book is available on the website here.

Lovitt Records just released a limited two-song 7" by Navies. The band has been on a bit of a hiatus, as they all have been working on other projects. Sean is playing in Pissed Jeans, which recently released a 7" on Sub Pop, Mike has been touring with A Day In Black And White, and Ed just finished his first year of law school. Navies are still active and will hopefully will be playing shows in the fall and winter.

Lovitt Records also just released Pinebender's new full length entitled Working Nine To Wolf . Their new epic recording comprises 8 songs and is over 60 mins. long. The band will be doing some touring behind it as they can.

Lovitt Records will be releasing in early 2007 a full length by Glos. Glos started as Keeley Davis (Engine Down, Denali) and Cornbread Compton (Engine Down). After collaborating on over 20 songs and having never physically played the songs together in a rehearsal environment, the duo decided to take even more advantage of the freedom that this style of writing offered. They invited Keeley's sister Maura Davis ( Denali) to join the project and add vocals to the songs that already seemed perfect for her. After two years of writing and refining, Glos has its first album entitled Harmonium. You can also listen to some songs on their myspace page www.myspace.com/glos>

The Cassettes have a new CD out entitled 'Neath The Pale Moon' on Buddyhead Records www.buddyhead.com/recordings/index2.html> out of CA. They will be touring the US a lot behind the release.

We will have new EPs from The Life And Times and Fin Fang Foom (released on the Japanese label Stiffslack) for order on the site now.

Exotic Fever is working on a new benefit comp. This one will be for Compassion Over Killing which is based on Washington, D.C.

Caution Curves have a new CD entitled A Little Hungry out now. They will be playing shows this fall/winter around the D.C. Area.

Peter Quinn formerly of Candy Machine has a new band Lo Moda which recently released a CD entitled Gospel Store Front.

That's all we know for now, check back soon and we'll know more!
