OpenBookSociety.com is the brain-child of creators Aaron and Dawn. The concept of OBS is simple: It’s an Online Book Club/Discussion Group for readers of the Supernatural genre. Think Harry Potter meets Twilight and absolutely everything in between! All age groups are welcome and we want our members to really be involved. We hope that Open Book Society will become a haven for fans of the Supernatural world.

Reading has been an important part of my (Dawn) life since I was a child. I recall going to the library each week and checking out an armful of books. I couldn’t get enough of vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, faeries, ghosts, fallen angels, time traveling, evil demons, gods & goddesses – I think you get the picture spacer It wasn’t cool to like or discuss other worldly beings when I was a child, but times have changed. We can now show our fascination and obsession with all things supernatural.

OpenBookSociety.com began with a need to participate in an Online Book Club or Book Group. I have loved supernatural and paranormal series for many years. I wanted a place to discuss all my favorite books, authors and series. Looking around, I couldn’t find anything that met my needs. That’s when I decided to start OBS.

Initially the site was only meant to be an online discussion group but the site continues to grow as we add more features and fun exclusives.

We have a monthly book club where we summarize, highlight notable quotes and come up with discussion questions related to the book we’ve chosen. Below is a list of the books we’ve already covered:

Beautiful Creatures (Kami Garcia & Margie Stohl)
Time Travelers Wife (Audrey Niffenegger)
Shiver (Maggie Stiefvater), Vampire Diaries (LJ Smith)
New Moon (Stephenie Meyer)
Never Ceese (Sue Dent)
Dead Until Dark (Charlaine Harris, Sookie Stackhouse)
Alice in Wonderland (Lewis Caroll)
The Lovely Bones (Alice Sebold)
Percy Jackson – The Lightning Thief (Rick Riordan)
Intertwined (Gena Showalter)
Fallen (Lauren Kate)
A MidSummer Nights Dream (William Shakespeare)
Wings (Aprilynne Pike)
The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins)
JR Ward Lover Mine

Your suggestions for book clubs are always welcome.

Some of my favorites are Vampire Academy (Richelle Mead), Vampire Diaries (L.J. Smith), Twilight Saga (Stephenie Meyer), Sookie Stackhouse series (Charlaine Harris), Morganville Vampires (Rachel Caine), Mayfair Witches (Anne Rice), The Vampire Chronicles, The Immortals (Alyson Noel), Blue Bloods (Melissa De La Cruz), Wings (Aprilynne Pike, Harry Potter (JK Rowling), Wicked (Nancy Holder, Debbie Viguie), House of Night (P.C. & Kristin Cast), Sweep & Balefire series (Cate Tiernan), Wicked Lovely (Melissa Marr), Mortal Instruments (Cassandra Clare), Christine Feehan, and Amanda Ashley.

We also recap and discuss our favorite supernatural/paranormal series like Lost, V, Merlin, Fringe, Vampire Diaries, True Blood and more.

Join us on the forum to discuss your favorites and mine. We look forward to meeting you.
