We’ve finished our October workshop season strongly (look at that wondrously correct grammar). Intern Mike recently blogged about Mike Jamoom’s stellar workshop, It’s Rocket Science, and you’ve probably found this post (my first, oddly enough) via our front page item on You’re Not That Boring, taught by novelist Jordan Roter.

I’m here to tell you about another workshop. It was no less riveting, popular, or edificating, but you might not have heard about it. Certain parties would rather you just not know. (Read: a certain former intern would rather you not see the pictures.) Tami Mnoian and Lien Ta, two former Tutors of the Month, brought their fashion expertise to the cucumber-and-melon-polished 826LA tables and gave us Roll Out the Catwalk.

826LA is a place where inner children break out of adult shells, where play pervades our education; Roll Out the Catwalk, to use the trite phrase, was a perfect example of this. We publicized the workshop as an opportunity to put on a fashion show, yet each student had chances to sharpen their eyes for detail and work on their journalism skills. After the runway show, everyone used their notes to write brief fashion reviews. Below are some observations by workshop stalwart Alexis.

"Don’t like the hat and belt,
but I like his shirt and summery look."
"Jeremy’s coat looks good on him,
but the hat is too small."
