In 1987, Ad Lib, Inc. produced the Ad Lib Music Synthesizer Card. The card,
which used Yamaha's YM3812 sound chip to produce nine channels of sound, soon
became the first de facto standard for add-on sound cards in IBM PCs and
compatibles. As a result of this success, most video games developed for
the PC would offer "Ad Lib" support for many years to follow.
This website offers a selection of video game soundtracks which make use of
the Ad Lib card. Each song is recorded using special hardware, for the
absolute highest possible quality. Since the recorded songs are stored in
MP3 format, you can enjoy listening to them using your favorite music player --
comfortably reliving the good old days.
