- Q: Does Empi have pediatric dynamic splints?
- A: Not at this time. However, our splints are extremely adjustable in both the limb girth and length. Please contact your local Empi sales representative for details. (Refer to PDF)
- Q: What is the purpose of the locking mechanism on the splint?
- A: The locking mechanism is designed to facilitate easy fitting and removal of the device without altering the tension.
- Q: Do you have any sizing or fitting tips?
- A: The malleable cuffs, easily adjustable struts, and locking feature make it extremely easy to fit Empi splints properly, so patients experience optimal comfort and results. A short videotape with tips for both clinicians and patients is available through your local Empi sales representative
- Q: What are the parameters or guidelines for using these splints? For example, how often, how long, and at what tension level should they be used?
- A: Please refer to the Empi "Treatment of ROM Limitations" guideline for clinically relevant data that can assist you in achieving positive outcomes.
- Q: How much can the struts be adjusted lengthwise and how much torque does the splint provide at different tension levels?
- A: Link to PDF on length and tension graph
- Q: Can I use the same splint for both flexion and extension ROM of the same joint?
- A: No. A device is designed to treat either a deficit in flexion or in extension ROM. However, the ROM in both directions will often improve after a gain is made in the direction that was most restricted initially.
