The SFCC Teaching Zoo is the local zoo for the Gainesville area and the laboratory for the Zoo Animal Technology Program. In this program, students from all over the United States learn to work with animals in captivity. After graduating from our program, students find employment in zoos and other animal related fields all over the country.

Owned and operated by the City of Gainesville's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, the historic William Reuben Thomas Center is a beautifully restored Mediterranean Revival-style building that was once a private home, then a hotel. Currently the Thomas Center serves as an arts and cultural resource for Gainesville and Alachua County.
