The Partisan Impact
of Redistricting
If the 2010 New York State legislative races took place under the district lines proposed by the state redistricting task force, the controlling parties in both chambers would increase their majorities, analysis by the New York World and the Center for Urban Research has shown. Senate Republicans would see their current one-seat majority widen to 34-29. Assembly Democrats would gain four seats, increasing their current 98 seats to 102 in the 150-member chamber.
