Welcome to Ents!

Ents stands for Entertainments and the crew is a group of students responsible for making almost every event that happens in the union take place. You'll see members of the crew at music events, comedies, ceilidhs, big screen sport and, of course, the weekly bops - we're always behind the scenes!

 The best part of the Ents crew? We are all volunteers - usually with no professional training. All that is required is a bit of enthusiasm, willingness to pick up new skills and a love of 'live' and you'll fit right in. Because we all volunteer, we want to be there and this creates a great atmosphere at events - we are always trying to have a laugh whilst working.

... and don't think you will have to wait three years before you can do anthing interesting. People often join Ents with no technical knowledge, and yet within a couple of weeks they could be setting up a Bop! with ease single-handedly or could be about to work with some of the biggest  artists in the UK. In recent years we have seen established acts such as The Pigeon Detectives, Snow Patrol, KT Tunstall, Eliza Doolittle and a whole host of DJs (Zane Lowe, Scott Mills, Reggie Yates) grace our stage, plus  acts from the local and national music scene (Amplifico, Fight the Bear, Big Hand, Bohemond, Zebra Jam & Blues Brothers).

Because we are involved in such a range of events, we are busy all year round, but the busiest times by far are Orientation Week and RAG Week, where we can usually put in full day's work for each event in order to make it look and sound as good as it possibly can - but there is no obligation for anybody to do anything! Every minute someone can give is totally appreciated.

Being on Ents is not all 'hard work'. We have a laugh, get to meet all kinds of people (famous and less so) and then there are the infamous 'Ents Socials' - but I'm sure you'll hear much more about those if and when you join us! Interested? Check out the 'How to Join Ents' page.

If you want to organise an event in the Student's Union and are looking for advice from the Ents Crew, we welcome you to our Usergroup meetings every Wednesday at 1.15 pm in Venue 2.
