spacer Lynn Andrews’ body of work is rooted in her belief that the moving body is a document of time, experience and place, and that dance is a means of defining and interpreting the world. Dance should tap into the vein of humankind, to explore both the personal and the societal in order to create a relevant and textured body of art for the 21st century. The story, the telling gesture, and the close observation of human interactions: these are what lead to an informed and intricate choreography.

Lynn hails from Bettendorf, Iowa and started her dance training at Ballet Quad Cities School of Dance. She graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a BA in Theater/Dance and studied in London at Laban Centre for Contemporary Dance, receiving a Professional Diploma in Dance Studies. Lynn danced for several years in Washington DC with Carla & Company and BosmaDance, she taught dance at Catholic University of America, Dance Place and for a variety of outreach dance programs for DC public schools. She attended the University of Iowa as an Iowa Arts Fellow and completed her MFA in Dance Choreography in 2009. Currently residing in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Lynn teaches dance at Shelton State and is a University of Alabama Blount Fellow teaching a course about dance and society, while continuing to choreograph and develop new projects in Alabama and other parts South.
