American Accounts
Uniquely
American musical narratives are highlighted in ACO's final
Orchestra Underground performance of the season. Featuring a
world premiere by singer-composer Gabriel Kahane, the NY
premiere of Michael Daugherty's Trail of Tears, plus
the Copland Clarinet Concerto and a remembrance of Milton
Babbitt.

all of whom have been featured in ACO's New Music Readings and Emerging

Jazz Composers
Orchestra Institute
ACO
and the Center for Jazz Studies at Columbia University announced
the next round of the Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute. JCOI
includes a week-long Intensive held at the UCLA Herb Alpert School
of Music in August. Participants are then eligible to compose a
new orchestral work for JCOI Readings to be held with four
orchestras around the country.
CoLABoratory: Playing it UNsafe
2012-13
ACO announces
CoLABoratory: Playing it UNsafe, a research and development
laboratory for the creation, development, work-shopping, and
performance of experimental new music by American composers. The
program includes an extended series of public
workshop/readings during the 2012-13
season, culminating in performance in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall
on Friday, April 5, 2013, conducted by ACO music director
George Manahan.
Robert Beaser and Derek
Bermel, as well as
Morton Subotnick, serve as mentor-composers.
SONiC Re:Sound & Broadcasts
The
envelope please...! Tune in to New York Public Radio's Q2music.org Wednesday,
Oct. 26 at 7pm for the second special Re:Sound webcast to hear
the music that audiences told us they most wanted to hear again. This webcasts
features music from Oct. 18 - 22 concerts, including ACO's big finish concert,
