Main Finger Interviewed on Sidequesting.com

Sidequesting.com (the same group of gamers that reviewed my Mode 7 album) invited me on their new interview podcast, Merch Madness. I sat down with Steven Strom (host of the show) to discuss all manner of things relating to Main Finger including how I got started, why I love game music so much, which recent soundtracks have been hitting the right notes, and what I have planned for the future.

Be sure to head on over to the site, download the podcast, and read the acompanying writeup here: Merch Madness: Jesse "Main Finger" Gregory

Mega Man 9: Back in Blue Released

Posted on September 7, 2011

Around 2 years ago, I signed up to contribute to a Mega Man 9 remix album for OverClocked ReMix. Now that album is finally available (for free download). Titled "Back in Blue", it features 14 different artists and 18 tracks.

The robot master themes were already taken when I joined, but I managed to grab "Strange World" (Dr. Wily Stage 3) and while it's funny to think the track is now a couple years old (except for some recent remastering) I think you'll still enjoy it. It's a bit all over the place as I crammed a lot of different styles into it.

Oh yeah... I also made a bandcamp account with three new, unrelated Mega Man remixes that you should check out.

But back on topic, go download Back in Blue and watch the trailer below:

Main Finger's Videogame "Jam a Day" Blog

Posted on July 21, 2010

People that know me well know that I can’t shut up about videogame music. I love the stuff. I listen to it all the time. I remix it. Yet, I don’t always feel like writing a full, long-form piece on it which is why my music posts on WingDamage don’t happen that often.

For this reason, I’ve created an outlet for myself where I can share a few words about my game music passion each day. Main Finger’s Videogame “Jam a Day” Blog is a place where you can hear a videogame song hand picked by me every day (barring unforeseen circumstance) and read my very brief thoughts on it.

Sometimes it will be directly from a soundtrack, sometimes it will be a remix. There aren’t any strict rules here. However, my goal is to introduce people to new music they might not otherwise hear from a variety of genres and artists. Because of this, you might not always see me pick the most well known tunes (though I’m sure classics will appear from time to time).

So head on over to mainfinger.tumblr.com and see for yourself the songs I love. And if you like the blog, be sure to recommend it in the gaming and/or music directory of tumblr and spread the word to your friends. Hope you enjoy!

Stream a New Main Finger Remix on YouTube!

Posted on February 15, 2010

I currently have my hand in several projects. Rather than wait until each and every one of these projects is finished to release new music to the public, I've decided to use the Main Finger YouTube channel to stream rough cuts of new songs. Some of the stuff I'm working on still needs to be hidden for now, but I am releasing one song today and plan on releasing more in the not too distant future.

Today's streamable debut is the rough cut of my remix of "Always On My Mind". This song is covered to death, but the particular version I chose to remix (by Akira Yamaoka and Mary Elizabeth Glynn) is vastly different than the rest. Go ahead and give it a listen here or after the break. And be sure to subscribe to keep up to date on new streamable rough cuts.
