Loopy hair bows

Loopy hair bows are so much FUN! Especially when you make it funky like this one shown above and add korker ribbon, frilly yarn, and sprays along with the loops in it. Doesn’t that look like a wild bow? Typically you will make this kind of bow on a French barrette because you need the full length of the barrette (2 inches minimum) to be able to secure your loops as you work to create this bow. You can have a lot of fun mixing all kinds of color, textures, ribbon widths, and patterns like this one pictured or you can go with something more classic and have just a few complementary colors. I like to mix it up! Make some bows wild like this will all kinds of fun loops then others to match a specific outfit you’ll want to have just 2 or 3 colors in it.

The most important part about making loopy hair bows is that you need a really strong, quality thread in order for the loops to stay in place on your barrette (and so the thread doesn’t break when you pull it very tightly!) For this I suggest an upholstery thread. This is a little more expensive than a plain old sewing thread, but believe me, you will not be disappointed if you use this. It is probably the strongest thread available and is just what you need for making beautiful loopy hair bows.
