A homage hand-printed onto nice fitting shirts. Specify color scheme and size. Some of the black shirts have red blended in creating varying degrees of pink streaks on the white; if you want one of these, specify as well.
FLOW 21
A restrained and elegant record of heavily lyrical pop. Masterful song-writing gives way to vivid and particular imaginations of people and places that seem entirely familiar, thoughts that resonate through effortless prose. Recorded by and featuring Andy Morin, with further assistance by Jon Bafus of Afternoon Brother, et al. on drums and Michael Sherk (Mandarin Dynasty) on other things. 8 tracks of 50 sunny-yellow imprinted cassettes with double-sided J-cards, information on the inside.

In under one year, Tan Dollar recorded their debut album as a twin keyboard 3 piece, toured several times, replaced one of those keyboards with a guitar, added a bass, lost a drummer, got another drummer, and lost the other keyboard. Sometime during all the tension and flux, “Uneven” was recorded as a hurried and timely document of this most briefly-extant Tan Dollar 4 piece. 8 tracks on 50 transparent cassettes with a “reversible” J-card.

Bridgetown head honcho spreads his warmth. 2 tracks a side of emotive guitar work, swells and drones melting into one another, melancholy melodies searing through with an unexpected lightness. Distilling side-long drone missives into pop-sized scenes. Fast-paced time-lapse photographs of the heart of Kevin Greenspon. 4 tracks. 51 copies on black cassettes with pro-printed J-cards designed in the classic Bridgetown style by the man himself.

Four tracks by four very different yet geographically-related artists. Mason Lindahl of Mason Lindahl. Ellie Fortune of Ellie Fortune. Raleigh Moncrief of The Advantage, Who’s Your Favorite Son, God?, and Marnie Stern. Zach Hill of Zach Hill, Hella, Zach Hill & Mick Barr, Holy Smokes, Marnie Stern, CHLLPLL, -bygones, Wavves, Diamond Watch Wrists, Crime In Choir, Nervous Cop, El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (etc.). Each panel of the gatefold will be individually designed by the artist (the image above is a teaser of the art).
The songs contained herein are artifacts of the incredible rich, tight-knit, and incestuous musical community in the legal heart of California. These songs are all different and evocative and do not coexist as musical parallels aside from their innate togetherness. Pretty much these songs attempt showcase the scope of an infinite well of creative musical expression. 500 total sets in 4 panel gatefold jackets with an informative insert. No download code.

The best album by Daniel Trudeau of Placerville, California as the band “Pregnant.” Purely pop songwriting that is unafraid to bliss out into pure error glitch. Blue screen of life. There is nothing “usual” about this music, and it cannot feel more normal, organic, and timeless. Here we have poptimistic jubilations, hip-hop freakouts, and somber meditations. 11 tracks and a cute and meditative lock groove. 500 copies on “Big Bird” marbled yellow vinyl (okay, it’s kind of more “blinged-out Big Bird” but what can you do) in pro-printed jackets with parallel universe sax-y art and an informative insert. Glurgly beats and contorted everythings. A taut manifestation of that perfect balance between something and nothing, with reverb. Heavy live sampling, unafraid manipulation, locked groove swirls of color, and a solid grasp on how to do exactly this. Like the soundtrack to a Jurassic Park with less death. 12″ LP with eye-poppin labels in a disco sleeve with a wraparound poster-sized collage. Limited to 250. Includes download code.

New full-length album featuring many tracks from last year’s VHS/CD-R release “Next New Sun” remastered and with new songs. So excellent it hurts. Immaculately polished ruminations on death, not growing up, and life at home and on tour. Emotionally sincere, ever-urgent and plaintively sad (but never obnoxiously slogging). This is the perfect set of songs for a set of imperfect moods. Plus, really grooves. 600 black LPs in matte pro-printed jackets featuring blown up Polaroid photos and a photocopied insert. A co-release with GILGONO RECORDS of Tempe, AZ. Includes download code.

The best rock and roll band in Orange County, California? Probably. The nicest rock and roll band in Orange County, California? Definitely. Lo-fi but not to hide anything. Here is a total and holistic appreciation of punk-everything and not in a trite, soon-to-be-passé manner: this is heart-on-DIY-Tiger-Trap-shirt-sleeve. There is a passion and ambition in these songs way beyond so much of what lackadaisically drips out of MP3 blogs and PR emails. Remember the last time there was a really exciting, viable rocknroll duo? Me neither. CD digipak featuring art by T. Lucero using poorly developed photos from Walgreens.

FLOW 10
Wholly discombobulated pop gems. This album is filled with totally bewildering guitar playing, dope beats, and some of the weirdest overtly pop music I’ve ever heard. It’s like the recontexualization of all sorts of fringe and avantgarde in a pop context without any net loss. There’s enough variety, too, often within one track, to warrant several immediate repeat listens. Woman Year is the work of Michael RJ Saalman, whom you have maybe heard as guitarist warlock in Afternoon Brother (whose truly shredding “Maiden America” we’ve just released recently), as well as in his work both live and on record with Pregnant. 50 white tapes with printed labels, 13 jammin tracks.

Listening to Afternoon Brother is sort of like watching two people fervently argue. You are totally lost between the two streams of vocalization, and the structure of their sentences is lost in the increasing tension: you can make out a word here, a word there, logical building blocks from each superficially opposing side meshing together. And then, like many of our most energetic arguments, it all becomes immediately clear: there was no tangible argument. Despite their dogmatic differences, both people were on the same page all along. Except with guitars. 6 tracks on a prison shell tape with printed labels, limited to 50 surfy a-bombs.

This is that perfect “IDM.” No pretension or inaccessible coldness. Just chopped up samples whirring elegantly together, awash in brilliant, emotive synthscapes. This is warm like a hearth. Wish Boards Of Canada would finally make another record? Well, it’s 2010, so quit holding your breath and relax with this record. A debut release of very surprising strength and consistency. Two distinct EPs tied together on one piece of wax to create one illustrious, cohesive LP. 12 inches in an edition of 500 with a pro-printed collage on matte jackets, with an insert featuring some thoughts and information. Expertly home-recorded krautgaze by the fiercely prolific Paul Rosales. Dangerously compressed and unrelenting rhythms sync with in-the-pocket washes of guitar; effortless pop melodies, brilliant tambourine clang, and effected vocal refrains sit atop. What comes from this fine-tuned apparatus is totally human and its deeply-seated momentum is remarkable. 8 dense tracks on a prison-shell tape with printed labels, 50 made.

Garret Anton Harkawik is obsessed with the potential of the smallest musical unit; his songs are mosaic mandalas, thoroughly shattered tracks reassembled via Apple’s Final Cut Pro into calculated, impeccably-arranged mantras. His samples are not used as reference points but rather as literal building blocks pieced together with his digital finesse as mortarl. Macroscopic plastic surgery performed with a razor-sharp digital blade, the most transient sound captured and slapchopped with deceiving ease. What results is impossibly melodic and rhythmically unified: the synthesis of dozens of skipping CDs dramatically interlocking like jigsaw pieces. 327 black LPs in DIY jackets with a small but informative insert. Melancholic noise, dance music, and the weird space in between. Endlessly textured and contorted electronic drones that ebb and flow, building up to huge-sounding and surprising cadences that crash like sleet and hale; four-on-the-floor club-ready jams: unselfconsciously, infectiously, and fundamentally pop. And, a Casiotone For The Painfully Alone cover. 10 seamless tracks on 50 blindingly red tapes with printed labels.
