Will the Space Pirates sail again next year? This is a popular question at this time. It depends on if I can get sponsors. I have spent all of my personal funds that I reasonably can. We have demonstrated technical and operational proficiency. We also have shown how much publicity is available for the team through the competition. I plan to look into sponsors when things settle down. The fact that the height and speed have been increased makes the costs to return higher than the amount spent this year.

The Competition
The competition is in summary a vertical drag race straight up 200Ft with no fuel or batteries. Put on by the Spaceward Foundation with prizes funded By NASA's Centennial challanges program. The climbers are unmanned weigh a max of 25Kg (60Lbs) and may only be power by beamed energy.
