Sight Words
Our school district just recently adopted a new basal reading series, Harcourt Trophies. Below you will find resources to study the key vocabulary included with each story in this series.
You will also find several levels of sight words, also known as the Dolch Word List. This is a standard sight word list used throughout our country's schools. From 50 to 75 percent of all words used in school books, library books, newspapers, and magazines are in the Dolch Basic Sight Vocabulary of 220 words. They are "service words" (pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and verbs) which cannot be learned through the use of pictures.
