Bannedmusic.org is a peer-to-peer collaboration that makes it impossible for the major record labels to ban or censor musical works. When record labels send legal threats to musicians, record stores, or websites, we will post the music here for download and publicize the censorship attempt. There is a clear fair use right to distribute this music, and for the public to decide whether current copyright law is serving musicians and the public, they need to be able to hear what's being suppressed. BannedMusic.org uses Blog Torrent to distribute these albums. P2P delivery is perfect because it spreads bandwidth costs across users, but we needed a p2p system that was just as easy as downloading a file from a webpage.
Make this project stronger by joining our network of volunteers. The
goal is to make banned music as widely available as possible-- we need
people to share our releases on multiple networks, to burn CD-Rs to
send to reporters and noncommercial radio stations, and to help manage
what music appears on this site.
