If you're a student anywhere in the world with a passion for theatre and drama then NSDF12 - ISDF (International Student Drama Festival) is for you.
NSDF 12 - ISDF is being produced by the British-based NSDF in association with Sheffield Theatres and will take place in Sheffield, England from 22-30 June 2012 just before the London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT) and World Shakespeare Festival.
NSDF 12 - ISDF will be an unprecedented celebration of young people's theatre from across the globe and will bring together emerging artists and practitioners alongside an international elite of professionals spanning every theatrical discipline.
It will feature over 100 performances, 200 workshops, discussions, master classes and late night professional performances in venues across Sheffield, including the wonderful Sheffield Theatres, University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University.
If you are a young person aged 16 or over (at least 80% of the company must be aged 16-25) and are involved with a theatrical production that will take place between now and 8 March 2012 (non-UK entries)/9 March 2012 (UK entries) and think that it might be something that deserves being part of NSDF 12 - ISDF, don't miss out on this amazing opportunity. The deadline for non-UK entries is 7th October 2011 and the deadline for UK entries is 9th March 2012.
Here's what we're looking for:
Selection Criteria
The piece can be any length from 10 minutes to 150 minutes (we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate pieces longer than 150mins). It can be any theatrical genre for example: devised work, physical theatre, new writing, published texts, musicals, site-specific, street theatre, mime. It can have professional or non-student input providing that the majority of the work is driven by young people - please note at least 80% of the company must be young people (16-25 years). We look for pieces with exceptional theatre craft with a clear sense of ownership and commitment from the people presenting it, whatever the genre. We do not base our selection choices on our own tastes or emotions but clearly we have to be effected by the piece.
