SENSORIA will provide a range of practical skills workshops AND industry sessions explaining how to build a successful future career using those skills.
Resonator is a brand devised by SENSORIA. Traditionally a Resonator enables musicians to play louder and we want to help Sheffield’s budding new creatives to make the most of their talent. The whole programme of events enables young people to understand and capitalise on the value of their musical and creative skills. We will give participants a 360 degree guide of opportunities within the music industry – and how to make the most of their talents.
This programme is a pilot project and will be looking to review and expand for 2011.
The practical workshops will include:
- STAND UP AND SING – a workshop concentrating on developing vocal techniques and confidence.
- GROUP JAM – already established as a unique way to bring young people together with top musicians, culminating in a live jam of a top pop song.
- DIG DIGITAL - young people get cracking on challenges in games and web development.
- SPINNING THE DECKS - LEARN TO DJ - a practical workshop for budding DJ’s, mc’s and urban artists.
- REEL TALK - HOW TO GET INTO FILM PROGRAMMING OR PRODUCTIONbased at the Showroom, a chance to learn about film programming and film production.
The sessions can be booked individually and Resonator industry sessions are open to all students - it is not necessary to have attended a workshop session to come along to the Resonator talks, all students regardless of musical ability are welcome to these.

Ben Denison and Rich Huxley are band members, music entrepreneurs and educators. Taking the band Hope and Social as a case study, Ben and Rich will demonstrate how they work in new ways to keep fans engaged, loyal and buying their music - even if fans only pay what they can afford...
