Belmont Stakes Odds

Most sportsbooks will not be offering futures odds for Belmont Stakes betting until the field is set and Belmont Park linesmaker sets the ‘morning line’ for the event on the Wednesday before the race.  This will take place on Wednesday, June 8th.

Obviously, the first two races of the Triple Crown—the Kentucky Derby and Preakness—will play a big part in not only determining the competitive field at the Belmont but the odds they’re assigned.   The length of the race—a brutal mile and a half—makes it an even more difficult tactical decision as to which horses in a stable are best suited for the distance.  Currently there are several horses that are being considered for a run in the Belmont even though they skipped both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness.

1. Master of Hounds, Garrett Gomez (opening odds 10-1)
2. Stay Thirsty, Javier Castellano, (opening odds 20-1)
3. Ruler On Ice, Jose Valdivia Jr., (opening odds 20-1)
4. Santiva, Shaun Bridgmohan, (opening odds 15-1)
5. Brilliant Speed, Joel Rosario, (opening odds 15-1)
6. Nehro, Corey Nakatani, (opening odds 4-1)
7. Monzon, Jose Lezcano, (opening odds 30-1)
8. Prime Cut, Edgar Prado, (opening odds 15-1)
9. Animal Kingdom, John Velazquez, (opening odds 2-1)
10. Mucho Macho Man, Ramon Dominguez, (opening odds 10-1)
11. Isn’t He Perfect, Rajiv Maragh, (opening odds 30-1)
12. Shackleford, Jesus Castanon, (opening odds 9-2)

Although there’s much to suggest that Shackleford might struggle with the distance in the Belmont we expect him to be the second wagering choice due to ‘name recognition’ based on his Preakness win as much as anything else. For football fans, we’ve got you covered with superbowl prop bets!
