Noreast’r 2012 – June 8 – 10, 2012

(1-13-12)  Join us for our 10th anniversary Noreast’r Festival June 8 – 10, 2012. The festival gates will open at 10am Thursday, June 7th with a free shuttle service to live music in downtown Fairview. Plans are underway to bring you a bigger and better weekend of entertainment, art and community at the Oscoda County Fairgrounds in Mio, MI. Once again we will be bringing you a great variety of bands from all over the country, most with roots right here in Michigan, with even more chances to hear them at our new 3rd stage!

spacer Noreast’r wouldn’t be complete without, Carrick’s Guitar Giveaway for kids.  In“2002” Craig Carrick joined forces with Noreastr’s founder Buffy Galer and started an annual tradition to fulfill a dream for many lucky kids, matching up aspiring young musicians’ with a new guitar. Most of you know that Craig heroically battled a fierce cancer and thankfully is now officially in remission. You can read about it at carrickhouseconcerts.com.

The fundraiser for Carrick’s Guitars for Kids will be held on MARCH 31, 2012 at Callahan’s Pub in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Every year, this fundraiser features a line-up of amazing artists who all freely give their time.

More information will be coming soon about the festival and fundraiser so check back here often.

spacer Al Limberg, our beloved sound guy that has had a lot to do with the success of Noreastr Festival, passed away-We will miss you Al. Below is an excerpt from his obituary.

Al Limberg, 61 of Saginaw, MI, died Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Toni and Trish Hospice Care Home. He was born on June 3, 1950 in Midland to the late Elwyn and Annie (Birrell) Limberg. Al graduated from Midland High School in 1968 and Michigan State University in 1973.

Al loved music and dedicated most of his life to it. In his early years he owned Watermelon Sugar Instruments in Old Town Saginaw and helped many budding musicians get started in their music careers. He was a true friend to all and was always there to help anyone in need. He later turned to sound production. He was recognized by his peers in the music industry as an outstanding soundman. The Bay Area Review Magazine recognized Al as the best soundman seventeen times and in 2007 he received the award as the Person Making the Biggest Impact in the music scene in the last twenty years. As one musician friend once said, “Al can make a bad band sound good and a good band sound fabulous”.
