An interview with Todd Tanner, outdoorsman, writer and founder of Conservation Hawks, challenges readers to convince him that climate change is not real – and he promises his Beretta to the person who persuades him he need not worry about the issue. The article has stimulated a lively exchange of comments.
Citing climate change as the most important issue that hunters and anglers have ever had to face, Conservation Hawks is an organization devoted to protecting America’s sporting heritage for future generations. The non-profit organization proposes to accomplish its goal through research, education, training, advocacy and public outreach.

Graphic shows global temperature trends
Tracking more than 125 years of temperature changes throughout the world, this 26-second animated graphic from NASA illustrates Earth's dramatic warming in since the beginning of the "modern record" in 1880. In 2011, the Earth's average temperature was 0.92 degrees F (0.51 C) warmer than the mid-20th century baseline.
The warming trend of the past 10 years exceeds the localized, temporary heat waves of previous decades.
Forest Service offers climate change training
The Training in Advanced Climate Change Topics course will be offered April 2-6, 2012 in Madison, Wisconson. The course will enhance federal employees' knowledge of climate change science, ecosystem response and adaptation, and greenhouse gas mitigation principles. Participants will also hone communication skills and begin developing a climate change outreach event for educational purposes related to climate change.
