Smash Mouth & Zoom!
Smash Mouth has been busy working on music for the upcoming Sony/Revolution Studios motion picture "ZOOM" which is scheduled for release in theatres 8/11/06. The movie, directed by Peter Hewitt, includes cast members Tim Allen, Courteney Cox, Chevy Chase, Rip Torn and more. Smash Mouth will be contributing the majority of the music for the film, including brand new songs "So Insane" and "Everyday Superhero" that can only be found on the band's upcoming release Summer Girl (in stores this summer 2006). Some previously released Smash Mouth tunes will be in the film as well, such as "Hang On" (from Get The Picture) and "Come On Come On" (from Astro Lounge). In addition, there will be a cover of the Queen/David Bowie classic "Under Pressure" and another SM original called "Days Like These". The only place you will be able to hear these last two songs will be in the film, as they will not be released on CD, so make sure to check out ZOOM and SMASH MOUTH this summer!

"Story of My Life" Blowing Up at Radio
Smash Mouth's new single "Story of My Life" (from their forthcoming CD Summer Girl) has been serviced to 600 radio stations across the country and is being added to playlists like crazy. Word is that it may end up being the #1 most added song in the USA next week (and they haven't even "officially" gone for adds yet!)

Stations in a number of major markets are already spinning the song, so get on the horn, call your local radio station, and request Smash Mouth's "Story of My Life". You can hear "Story of My Life" on the Smash Mouth Myspace page now!

Steve's Surreal Life Debut
Smash Mouth vocalist Steve Harwell can now add "Reality TV Star" to his resume. Harwell has been confirmed as a cast member for the sixth installment of VH1's ratings juggernaut "The Surreal Life", along with Sherman Hemsly (George Jefferson from "The Jefferson's"), video vixen Tawny Kitaen, Poison guitarist C.C. Deville, Playboy TV covergirl Andrea Lowell, actor/actress Alexis Arquette, and special guest star Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch). Look for appearances by Steve's bandmates as well when Surreal Life 6 makes its debut, Sunday, March 19th on VH1.

New Man On The Skins
After much consideration, the founding members of Smash Mouth (Steve Harwell, Greg Camp and Paul DeLisle) have parted ways with long time drummer Michael Urbano due to creative differences. Replacing Michael behind the kit as of March 2006 is ace drummer Jason Sutter, best known for his work with American Hi-Fi and The Rembrandts.

The Great Drummer Hunt
After reviewing several hundred submissions from potential drummers and two days of auditioning the top finalists in Los Angeles, Smash Mouth has selected Jason Sutter as their new drummer (see above). All of the packages we received were top notch and there were so many great players stepping forward that it was a very difficult choice to make. Our heartfelt thanks to all the talented individuals that took the time to send in a package and audition.

Do The Crawl
A 30-second preview of "The Crawl" from Smash Mouth's forthcoming record was featured at the site for Cingular/Motorola's "iTunes Phone" - aka the Rokr E1 - which was the first cellular phone to feature iTunes compatibility. If you missed it, don't worry, "The Crawl" and a fresh batch of new Smash Mouth music is slated for release soon.

All Star Smash Hits
Smash Mouth "All Star Smash Hits" is in stores and available now! Smash Mouth's first greatest hits compilation CD includes 20 Smash Mouth recordings (most of the singles, four cover tunes and four previously "soundtrack-only" songs). For a complete track listing, please visit the Discography page. The release date for Smash Mouth's 5th CD "Old Habits" has been delayed in the meantime, and is now tentatively scheduled for a 2005 holiday season release.

Best of Smash Mouth DVD
Universal has released "The Best of Smash Mouth - The DVD Collection" as part of their 20th Century Masters series. The DVD, in stores and available now includes the Smash Mouth video favorites "All Star", "Walkin' On The Sun", "Why Can't We Be Friends", "Then The Morning Comes", and "Pacific Coast Party".
