The Newest Addition to Our Family - Wordless Wednesday

I'd like to take a minute to introduce you to the newest member of the family:

2012 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

Ain't she a beauty? Such soft leather interior and a shiny complexion, she looks tough on the outside but really she's just a softy on the inside. She and I have already hit it off. Yes, it's been a bit of adjustment when compared to the cabin space of the minivan that my husband now drives. But with Uconnect capabilities, 18" aluminum nitrogen-filled wheels and 4-wheel drive, it was practically love at first sight.

GLAD Odour Guard Compostable Bags

Did you know that kitchen organic material makes up approximately 30% of our garbage? Kitchen organics refers to food waste but also includes used tissues and paper towels. By recycling theses organics, we can convert it into compost and help divert it from landfill. Thanks to tiny microorganisms, the waste is eaten to produce carbon dioxide, water and humus, resulting in a natural fertilizer that has been proven by organic gardeners to have several benefits. It can restore soil fertility, help retain ground moisture, control weeds and reduce soil erosion. This is one of the reasons I recycle kitchen organics at home.

Another reason I recycle kitchen organics is to reduce the amount of garbage that gets thrown out. We chose a medium sized garbage bin when we moved to our new house as a reminder that we need to limit waste and to also reduce costs for utility fees related to garbage removal. The one major problem I have experienced is finding sturdy bags that are designed with compost in mind. You know, the kind that won't tear and leave a nasty mess at the bottom of your kitchen waste bin (yuck). So when I was offered a chance to sample the new GLAD Compostable Bags with Odour Guard, I jumped at the opportunity. I received a whole bunch of bags to try out and share, and they came in a big box that I am reusing as a toy box.

Basic Cable is No Longer Basic

This week, my husband and I bought a new vehicle since my husband's truck is pretty old and run down. As a result, we have been looking at ways in which we can reduce our expenses. We decided we could do without our VIP Digital Cable package and go back to basic. The only thing is... there is no more 'basic.'

It turns out that Digital Basic is the smallest package we can get. Small, as in hundreds of channels, which includes Rogers on Demand and 27 timeshifting channels. Most of which we will never watch. Ever.

We could purchase the digital box instead of renting it. It costs about two year's worth of renting.

We could resort to just Netflix but I would miss Mr. D and Republic of Doyle. Mind you, I could always watch them online.

For now, we're sticking with Digital Basic.

$52.49!

I want my analog back.
