Tour Finals
PLEASE NOTE: This schedule is for 2010 and will be updated before the 2011 finals.
Schedule for Thursday, November 25th, 2010
7:30pm – All-Stars and Pros – Prelims
To qualify for this contest, the All-Star/Pro must have more than 40 advanced points within the last 5 years, per the World Swing Dance Council Records OR classified as a Champion per most NASDE events. They must pre-register on GlobalDance.tv before October 1st to enter.
Dancers in this round will be scored as individuals. The top leaders and top followers – one for each follower and leader from the qualifying events – will be selected to move onto the Semi Final Round.
8:15pm – Opening Ceremonies with Event Tour Winners
We will introduce all tour qualifiers to represent the event they won at. Please have your winner’s jackets with you.
We will then have one short dance with all the couples on the floor. A volunteer will collect all the jackets and we will proceed into the semi final round.
8:30pm – Semi-Final for Tour Qualifiers
The finalists from each tour stop will be randomly paired with a semi-finalist from the All-Star/Pro prelims. Heated semi-finals will be danced to three or four songs where the dancers will be scored as couples.
The top 16 couples — 8 female amateur couples and 8 male amateurs couples — will advance to the final tournament bracket.
9:30pm – Final Tournament Bracket
The top 16 couples will be re-sorted, each amateur drawing a new All-Star/Pro from the top 16. This is a luck of the draw scenario, so potentially an Am could have the same partner as the semi-final round.
A score will be given to the couple based on the combined success in the semi-final round. After the score is calculated, each couple will be seeded into a tournament bracket.
