Shetland Needleworkers - Rags to Riches
Exhibition dates: 11/02/2012 - 18/03/2012
Shetland Needleworkers' exhibitions have established a reputation for being colourful and accessible yet varied and interesting. With more entries than ever, this exhibition showcases the creativity and productivity of members.
The pieces are often inspired by the history, flora, fauna and landscape of Shetland, however some clearly show influences of more far flung cultures.
One piece in the exhibition is a quirky quilt of demure 'Bathing Belles', each hand sewn and unique. Made by the group, this quilt is being raffled in aid of the Shetland Swimming Association to support youngsters who have considerable travel costs when competing on the mainland. Tickets are available from all Swimming Clubs, Nimble Fingers in the Toll Clock Shopping Centre and from the Needleworkers who will attend the exhibition each afternoon.
Also on display will be the trophies for the Shetland Challenge competition - open to anyone living in Shetland. For more information on this, or the Needleworkers group, please contact Sheila Peterson on 01806 577321.
