Silk Road Theatre Project at the Historic Chicago Temple Building

Before the show, dance critic Lucia Mauro will welcome guests to her exhibit of
contemporary photographs of Italy on the second floor of the Chicago Temple Building
in James Parlor. Guests will then proceed to the Silk Road Theatre for a reception with
appetizers courtesy of TasteAmerica catering. Following the show Mauro will lead a discussion
of the play. You won’t want to miss the story of Caravaggio, the great Italian painter and
father of the Baroque, whose daring art and volatile personality attracted the favor and
wrath of the church he both loved and reviled.

In the spirit of Boy Gets Girl, take your blind date out for Pizza and drinks at
Kendall's bar followed by a performance and a post show discussion and backstage tour.
Theresa Bedell is a successful single New York reporter who seems to be failing at the
dating game. She agrees to go on a blind date with a friend of a friend, but after a
second date she's convinced they have nothing in common and sees no point in continuing
the relationship. What at first seems like persistence on his part grows into obsession
as Theresa's world slowly begins to turn upside down.

The evening will begin with appetizers and a special Bordeaux wine tasting, and a discussion
led by Caryn Klein, manager of theSteppenwolf Theatre Costume Shop. Caryn will share the process
of creating the original costumes for the show and discuss the research process, share renderings
by costume designer Janice Pytel and show the various stages the costumes went through including
mock-up versions of some of the show’s most stunning garments. After the show, the audience will
have the opportunity to meet with some of the cast members, ask questions about the production,
and see the costumes up close.
Who is Madame X? Why did she kill her companion? And why, despite grueling and intense interrogation
does she remain silent in her own defense? Rumors spread through turn-of-the-century Bordeaux, France,
as the novice attorney Raymond Floriot – son of the city’s most influential judge – attempts to unravel a
web of lies that spans twenty years and three continents.

glimpse at the many different outcomes the show has in store, and have the exclusive chance to
start plotting your choices ahead of time. Then head back out to the lobby to fuel up for the

Don't miss this Japanese themed pre-show reception at Koi (624 Davis St., Evanston)
with delicious hors d'ourves and a cash bar. Then head over to Cahn Auditorium for a
performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado followed by a post-show discussion
with members of the cast. When the Mikado threatens to reduce the town of Titipu to
a mere village unless someone is beheaded, his subjects must find a way -- in brilliant
