LSA Board of DirectorsEach year, the Members of the LSA elect a Board of Directors consisting of 15 members and two Alternate Directors. Each Director is elected to a 3-year term and each Alternate Director is elected to a 1-year term.Once the Board of Directors is chosen, the Directors then elect Officers of the Corporation from among the 15 Directors. LSA Legislative Award goes to Rep. Cameron HenryThe Louisiana Shooting Association, in recognition of the state legislator who by action has demonstrated the highest commitment to the protection of Second Amendment rights, announces the awarding of its second annual Louisiana Shooting Association Legislative Excellence Award.This annual award is presented to the legislator selected by unanimous vote of the LSA Board of Directors based upon that legislator's actions during the most recent legislative session. The criteria used in the final selection of the award recipient includes an evaluation of the candidates' continued support of responsible firearm use and ownership, their role in protecting legitimate firearm owners from ineffective and punitive legislation, and their support of appropriate law enforcement efforts relative to firearm issues. With these factors in mind, it is with great appreciation and pride that the LSA announces the recipient of the Louisiana Shooting Association Legislative Excellence Award; Representative Cameron Henry of Metairie. Rep. Henry in his capacity as a state legislator best exemplified during the 2011 legislative session those qualities relative to this award. Through his authorship of numerous bills of interest to the firearms community, his persuasive communication with other legislators, and his experienced counsel, all legitimate Louisiana firearm owners benefited. |

Conventional Pistol Matches now Shot at Palo AltoConventional Pistol, or as it is more often called, Bulls Eye pistol matches have been held the last two months at the Palo Alto Rifle & Pistol Club near Donaldsonville, LA. Bulls Eye matches are planned through November on the 4th Saturday of each month. The next match will be held on May 28th.The March match saw 9 shooters and 5 shooters competed in the April match. Thanks goes out to the Southwest Gun Club (SWGC) for their initial support, as Walter Denton drove all the way from Lake Charles to officiate at both matches. Timed and Rapid fire is signaled by the SWGC timer horn. NRA rules are followed during the three matches of .22 rim fire, center fire, and .45 ACP pistol. Firing starts at 9:00 AM with a charge of $7.00 per shooter. Plans are in the works for individual shooting tables for the 25 yard firing line.
