The Boulton, Watt and Murdock statue
This statue depicting Messers Boulton, Watt and Murdock is the work of William Bloye and was unveiled in 1956. Standing in Birmingham city centre it has earned the nicknanes ‘The Golden Boys’ or ‘The Carpet Salesmen’.

Cast in bronze and finished in gold this larger than life statue can burn with light when caught in the late afternoon sun.

These three were pioneers of the industrial revolution in late 18th century England. James Watt radically improved the steam engine, William Murdock invented gas lighting, and their skills were brought together by industrialist and entrepreneur Matthew Boulton.

I’ve seen this statue numerous times, but never at the right time of day to do it justice. Fantastic work in capturing the statue in all it’s glory, and good to see you back posting again.

Tremendous color, especially against the subdued background. Very nice.
