Why We’re Here

I Live Here, I Give Here’s mission is to deepen and expand the culture of personal philanthropy by inspiring Central Texans to invest more money in our community. We educate and connect individuals and non-profits so more Central Texans experience the personal benefit of increased philanthropy.

Did you know Austin is ranked 48th out of the 50 largest cities in the nation in per capita charitable giving?

Austin is a vibrant city with a personality all its own. The people are passionate, driven, and generous volunteers of their time and talent. But that’s not enough. The biggest problem facing Austin Nonprofits is there is not enough money.

For a city so involved in protecting its natural habitats and native small businesses, the nonprofit needs of Austin should be equally met. But the severe shortage of funds for Nonprofits hurts the community every day.

This is where I Live Here, I Give Here steps in. Our main purpose is to connect people like YOU with the issues you care about and the Nonprofits that support them.

I Live Here, I Give Here is proud of the work we have accomplished since our launch in 2007. We connect the people of Austin with the causes they care about.

We partner with nonprofit groups so they can be more accessible to you. We spotlight specific needs in Austin every month to let you know how you can help.

Crank Up The Giving!

Whether Austin is the best place to live or the best city for dating, when it comes to national rankings, we stand tall. But there’s one area in which our fair city can always improve – Philanthropy. To help Austinites prove we are just as willing to donate to the causes we care about as we are to stage dive, I Live Here I Give Here® proudly introduces Amplify Austin.

Amplify Austin is a community-wide day of philanthropy with the goal of raising $1 million in 24-hours and, with your help, the reverb from our charitable giving will create excitement and goodness from 6th Street to Lake Travis…and beyond. Beginning at 7pm on March 4th, 2013, Central Texans will be encouraged to hop on www.ilivehereigivehere.org, to select from our list of over 300 local nonprofits, and show the rest of the world just how charitable this city can be. But the good vibes you get from giving isn’t all you gain by contributing.

Throughout the day randomly selected donors will win impromptu serenades from some of the city’s most cherished entertainers. Although only a handful of people can win the in-person performances, EVERYONE who donates will receive an e-tribute from a surprise musician too famous to mention. You’ll just have to wait and see once you do your part to Amplify Austin!
