The Platform of European Social NGOs (Social Platform) is the alliance of representative European federations and networks of non-governmental organisations active in the social sector.

The Social Platform and its members are committed to the advancement of the principles of equality, solidarity, non discrimination and the promotion and respect of fundamental rights for all within Europe and in particular the European Union.

The Social Platform promotes social justice and participatory democracy by voicing the concerns of its member organisations.

Press Release: Social Platform calls for a social pact to counterbalance the social consequences of fiscal consolidation and austerity measures

Social Platform called on the heads of state to commit to the integration of a social pact in the European economic governance in order to counterbalance the negative social consequences of austerity measures and fiscal consolidation. Two years of austerity measures and fiscal consolidation has led the EU away from its main objective “to promote peace, its values and the well-being of its people” as set out in the Treaty of the European Union (article 3).
