Long a cult favorite on the East Coast jam-band/avant-jazz circuit, keyboardist/sound sculptor Marco Benevento has been building a nationwide following for some jaw-dropping improvisational skills, a nogenres- barred approach, and a globe-trotting touring schedule. Opening for Benevento is the electronic-acoustic duo KaiBorg, featuring UC San Diego’s own David Borgo, associate professor of music, and Jeff Kaiser, PhD student in the Department of Music’s Integrative Studies Program. A surging sonic kaleidoscope, KaiBorg explores the domains of real-time computer processing and experimental improvisation.
