Stop43.org.uk stopped Commercial Orphan Works Exploitation in the UK Digital Economy Bill Clause 43

Stop43 campaigns for change in UK copyright and contract law to strengthen creators' rights and improve the functioning of photography markets to the benefit of photographers, users of photography, and the UK economy in general. We need:

  • No blanket commercial use of Orphan Works; Cultural Use encouraged
  • Automatic, unwaivable Moral Rights
  • Small Claims fast track through the courts for IP cases
  • Fair Contract Law for Intellectual Property
  • Effective, proportionate and dissuasive penalties for copyright infringement
  • An IP Ombudsman to arbitrate in disputes
  • An online copyright and rights registry, Cultural Use gallery, and commercial rights exchange
  • No Extended Collective Licensing of photographs
Government intends to use the forthcoming Communications Bill to implement the Hargreaves Review recommendations. Consultations have started, and Stop43 is involved.
